Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has issued a directive to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, urging him to ensure the immediate capture of those responsible for the killing of Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State.Â
The tragic incident has drawn national attention, and the government is making it clear that such acts of violence will not be tolerated.
In a statement released on Friday in Abuja by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, the minister expressed his outrage over the brutal assassination.
Matawalle strongly condemned the murder, describing it as both “heinous and unacceptable.” He underscored that the government would take decisive action to ensure justice is served.
“The killing of Alhaji Isa Bawa is a senseless and brutal act that will not be tolerated under any circumstance,” Matawalle stated emphatically. “We will do everything within our power to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for this heinous crime.”
To address the situation swiftly, Matawalle called on the Chief of Defence Staff to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the murder.
He emphasized that the perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice without delay.
The minister also pointed out that security remains one of the top priorities of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which has been providing substantial support to the military in combating various security challenges across the country.
“The Nigerian Armed Forces will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of the culprits. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of every Nigerian citizen,” Matawalle assured the public.
In his statement, the minister expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late District Head, the people of Gatawa, and the entire Sokoto State government.
He reiterated that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians and will continue working tirelessly to uphold peace and security nationwide.
