In a move that solidifies their commitment to nurturing young talent, Manchester United has agreed to sign 17-year-old defensive midfielder Sékou Koné from Mali.
The deal, revealed yesterday, is reportedly 100% complete, with United outbidding over three other clubs to secure the services of the highly touted prospect.
According to sources, Koné will join the Red Devils for an initial transfer fee of £1 million, with additional performance-based add-ons included in the agreement.
The signing is expected to be formalized next week, pending a successful medical examination.
Regarded as a significant talent, Koné will initially link up with United’s U21 squad for the upcoming season.
However, the club’s long-term vision is to integrate him into the senior team, where he is expected to play a key role in the future.
In related news, Manchester United is also on the verge of announcing the signing of Chido Obi-Martin, another promising young player, in the coming days.
