Yobe Govt cautions clerics to steer clear of divisive or inciting sermons during Ramadan

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, leaders in the Islamic community have been advised by the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana, to steer clear of controversial topics and comments that could cause division.

This advice was given during a special meeting with Chief Imams of Friday Mosques and preachers from all over the state.

The purpose of this meeting was to help prepare these leaders for the Ramadan lectures they would deliver.

It was also a chance for them to discuss and share ideas on how to deliver their Friday sermons and Ramadan teachings effectively.

The deputy governor emphasized the importance of avoiding topics that could confuse or mislead their followers.

Instead, he encouraged them to focus on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and to promote peace, harmony, and the fundamental principles of Islam. He also urged parents to ensure their children receive proper religious education.

“I therefore urge parents and guardians to ensure proper upbringing of their children, as God will ask each one of you how you bring up your children in the hereafter,” he said.

In response, the Chief Imam of Bade, Imam Umar Ahmad Talba Kura, thanked the state government for organizing the meeting and providing an opportunity for Islamic leaders to enhance their understanding of how to propagate Islam in a constructive manner.
