A group of women from the “Voice of Women in Nigerian Leadership Initiative” came together in a big group on Saturday to show they’re not happy about how tough things are in the state and all over Nigeria.
They stood at the Old Airport roundabout holding signs with different words on them to show they’re upset about how the country’s economy is doing badly, making everything more expensive and making life harder for people.
The leader of the group in the state, Mrs. Lois Goyim, talked to reporters and said they all gathered at the roundabout to make the people in charge pay attention to their problems because of how hard it is for women and children, who usually take care of the home.
She was very critical of the government’s response to the bad situation, saying they haven’t done enough to control how much things cost, which is making people hungry and unable to afford what they need.
Mrs. Gotom also talked about how in 2023, a lot of land in Nigeria couldn’t be used for farming because farmers were scared of attacks by people they didn’t know.
She said in places like Mangu and Bokkos in Plateau State, where farmers usually grow crops like maize and potatoes, people had to leave their farms because of fighting. This made things even worse because now there’s no food from those farms.
She explained that the Voice of Women in Nigerian Leadership initiative is made up of women from different parts of life who want to make the voices of regular Nigerians louder and fix things that are unfair.
Mrs. Gotom asked President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, other leaders who were elected, and those who were chosen to help make things better to act fast and help the Nigerian people, especially women and children who are struggling a lot.
