Unknown Gunmen have killed a pregnant woman and injured two others in the Jol community of the Riyom local government area.Â
The attack occurred on Thursday at approximately 3:00 PM when the victims, Davou Raymond and his pregnant wife, Favour Raymond, were returning from an antenatal clinic in Sho.
They were traveling on a motorcycle along the Sho to Jol Road when they were ambushed by assailants believed to be Fulani terrorists.
The National Body of Berom Youths Moulder Association (BYM) issued a statement, signed by its National President, Barrister Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, detailing the events of the attack.
According to the association, Favour Raymond lost her life due to the attack, while her husband, Davou, sustained serious injuries. He is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
In a separate but related incident, another individual, Mr. Dachollom Biri from the Daku community, was also attacked while returning home to Vwak, where internally displaced persons from Daku seek refuge.
Mr. Biri was likewise injured in this attack and has been rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.
The BYM expressed deep concern over the rising violence in the region, highlighting that the recent breaches of peace have escalated tensions within the community.
They warned that if the situation is not addressed promptly, it could lead to widespread and intractable violence, affecting not only Jol but also neighboring villages and local government areas bordering Riyom.
Furthermore, the association recommended that farming and other activities be temporarily suspended until adequate security measures are put in place to ensure the safety of the residents.
The community is advised to remain alert and proactive in reporting any unusual movements or activities that could pose a threat to their safety.
