The Sokoto state government has expressed praise for the commendable efforts and sacrifices made by the troops of the 8th Division of the Nigeria Army in addressing banditry and other criminal activities.
The commendation took place at the 26 Battalion parade ground, which served as the venue for this year’s Nigeria Army West Africa Army Social Activities (WASA).
Colonel Ahmed Usman, a retired officer and special adviser to the Sokoto state governor on security and careers, conveyed the appreciation on behalf of the governor.
Colonel Ahmed Usman emphasized the deep gratitude of the government and people of Sokoto, acknowledging and valuing the substantial contributions of the Army in tackling security challenges.
He reassured that the state would continue to offer unwavering support to the troops, ensuring they receive the necessary resources for the success of their operations.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8th Division, shed light on the significance of the WASA event, describing it as a traditional gathering that marks the conclusion of a year’s training activities in the Nigerian Army.
He highlighted the success of both the 8th Division’s activities and Operation HADARIN DAJI throughout the concluding year.
Major General Mutkut expressed satisfaction with the accomplishments and efforts exerted by the Division in maintaining security and order.
