Governor Yusuf to meet Tinubu amid economic challenges

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed his intention to meet with President Bola Tinubu to discuss the economic challenges faced by Nigerians.

During a meeting at the Government House in Kano, the governor highlighted the significant rise in inflation, particularly affecting the prices of food and daily necessities.

He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to find lasting solutions to these economic hardships.

In addressing the business community and stakeholders, Governor Yusuf stressed the urgency of tackling high inflation and its impact on the people of Kano.

He assured that the state government would create a conducive environment for businesses and called on the business community to contribute by paying taxes, thereby supporting the government in generating revenue.

The governor expressed a strong desire to position Kano State as the most attractive trade destination.

He pointed to various programs and projects initiated by the state government to attract both local and international investors.

These initiatives, he believes, will contribute to economic growth, job creation, and income diversification, ultimately reducing poverty in the state.

Governor Yusuf urged the business community to refrain from hoarding essential goods in warehouses, especially in light of the approaching Ramadan season.

“We are begging you the business community to please shun hoarding of foodstuff in warehouses, bring it out and sell it to the public to curtail the high increase of foodstuff, especially at this moment that Ramadan is fast approaching.

He emphasized the importance of making these goods available to the public to mitigate the impact of rising food prices.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Abbas Sani Abbas, echoed the timeliness of the meeting, emphasizing its purpose to find solutions to the current hardships faced by residents of Kano.

Overall, the governor and officials aim to address economic challenges, foster business growth, and improve the well-being of the people in the state.
