Two students were reportedly killed along the Kurra Falls area in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State on Thursday.
The victims, identified as Obadiah Daryan, 25, a student at the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) in Vom, and Ezekiel Monday, 21, who attended Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Gashish, were ambushed by armed assailants while traveling on a motorcycle to Barkin Ladi town.
During the attack, the gunmen shot both students and took Obadiah’s phone before fleeing the scene.
In a separate incident later that evening, another individual, Francis Samuel, was reportedly stabbed in Kwi community.
Samuel, who hails from Fass settlement, was attacked and sustained serious injuries. He is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The Plateau State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, has yet to comment on these attacks.
This recent violence follows a disturbing trend of increasing tensions between farmers and herders in Plateau State, which has led to multiple incidents, including attacks, killings, and the destruction of farmlands and livestock.
