The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State to involve the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, following his indictment by the state House of Assembly.
This call was made in a statement released on Friday by Abraham Catoh, the PDP’s state publicity secretary.
Catoh stated that the findings of the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s investigations into the financial expenditures of Nasir El-Rufai’s administration have validated the PDP’s longstanding concerns about certain expenditures under El-Rufai’s government.
The PDP urged Governor Sani to invite the EFCC and ICPC to further investigate and recover any misappropriated funds, as indicated in the Assembly’s report.
The party emphasized the importance of prosecuting those found guilty to uphold transparency and accountability.
“The PDP calls on Governor Uba Sani to demonstrate his commitment to transparency by inviting the EFCC and ICPC to investigate the financial misconduct of Nasir El-Rufai and his associates, as highlighted by the House of Assembly’s report,” said Catoh.
“This action would also clear Governor Sani’s name, as he had previously supported the loan application in question while serving as a Senator from Kaduna.”
The PDP expressed its support for full government action to promote transparency and good governance at all levels in the state.
The party also praised the House of Assembly and its committee members for their thorough investigation and dedication to the public good, asserting that history will judge them favorably for their efforts.
