—

A patient, identified as Saba Elizabeth, has reportedly escaped from the Idi-Aba Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, Ogun State to avoid footing her medical bills.

Saba, who was said to have been treating an undisclosed illness, absconded from the health facility on Saturday, December 2nd 2023, due to lack of money to fund her medical bills.

Report says that she was admitted to the hospital’s gynecology unit on November 11, 2023, and was supposedly scheduled to be discharged on November 16, 2023 but she was prevented from leaving the health center due to her inability to pay for services rendered.

Her escape was said to have been noticed after she allegedly deceived the hospital staff that she was going to get food at a local store but never got back to the health facility again.

Confirming the incident, the Chief Security Officer of the medical centre, Akpoji Joshua, stated that the matter has been reported to the Kemta Police Division for further action.
