The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with POBITECH Consultancy Service, has initiated a comprehensive training program for 2,400 primary school teachers across the state.
During the inauguration at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris emphasized his administration’s strong commitment to revolutionize the education sector in the state.
He urged teachers, parents, educational institutions, various levels of government, individuals, organizations, and all stakeholders to join hands with the administration in advancing the education sector.
Governor Idris conveyed his intention to prioritize teachers’ welfare and provide support to the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment.
He assured that the administration would modify and strengthen the initiative’s operations to align with the societal needs.
Emphasizing the significance of the training, Governor Idris urged participants to be dedicated, highlighting his administration’s readiness to embrace initiatives that promote and elevate the teaching profession.
The Rector of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Dr. Usman Sani-Tunga, praised Governor Idris for the initiative, emphasizing that training and retraining of teachers is crucial for driving the education sector towards prosperity.
He assured the state government that the institution would ensure the trainees receive quality training, facilitated by qualified and professional trainers.
Prof. Suleiman Khalid, the Chairman of Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board, provided details on the training, stating that it is divided into six units, each accommodating 400 participants.
The two-week training aims to streamline the education sector, focusing on English language, Mathematics, and Pedagogical skills.
