The Nigeria Football Federation in its mail sent to stakeholders has declared the post for the head coach of the Super Falcons vacant following the expiration of Randy Waldrum’s contract.
The NFF appreciated the American Gaffer who almost led the Super Falcons to a historical World Cup campaign in New Zealand and Australia few weeks ago, after exiting the tournament without losing a game. The Federation emphasized need for such momentum to continue and so therefore requires new coaches to spearhead every tier of the female national teams.
Part of NFF’s statement read:
“The NFF Board resolved to be thorough and ensure meritocracy in the composition of new coaching crews for the various Women National Teams (Super Falcons, Falconets, and Flamingos) within the shortest possible time, as the Super Falcons and Falconets have crucial qualifying fixtures for major championships in a matter of weeks.”
The board also justifies Jose Peseiro’s decision to invite 22 foreign players for the Sao Tome game stating that the development will aid in building resplendent chemistry between the players as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which begins November and the African Cup of Nation billed to kick off early next year in Ivory Coast.
