The FIFA international break saw some continental games return. In the UEFA Nations League last night, England was embarrassed by Greece, who earned their first win over the Three Lions.
France and Norway secured massive wins, while the match between Italy and Belgium ended in a draw.
Israel 1-4 France
In League A of the UEFA Nations League, Israel was overpowered by France, who won 4-1 at Bozsik Arena, Budapest.
Eduardo Camavinga scored France’s first goal, marking his first goal of the season after just 17 minutes. Israel responded with an equalizer but were dismayed when Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku restored France’s lead.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with France extending their lead to 4-1 through goals from Matteo Guendouzi and Bradley Barcola.
Italy 2-2 Belgium
In another League A match, Belgium and Italy battled to a 2-2 draw. Italy led 2-0 after just 24 minutes, but were left disappointed when Belgium staged a comeback, equalizing after Italy was reduced to 10 men due to a red card just before halftime.
Unbeaten France sits behind Italy with seven points in Group B. Belgium is in third place with four points, while Israel has yet to earn a point after three games.
England 1-2 Greece
In League B of the UEFA Nations League, England suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat at Wembley Stadium to a mourning Greek team, who dedicated their victory to George Baldock, who had passed away a day before the game.
Despite Jude Bellingham equalizing late for England, Greece’s resilience saw them score a late winner, marking their first-ever victory over the Three Lions at Wembley Stadium.
Greece tops Group 2 with three wins in three matches, remaining undefeated. England is second with six points, Ireland has three points, and Finland has none.
Norway 3-1 Slovenia
In another League B match, Norway defeated Slovenia 3-1, with Erling Haaland grabbing a historic brace. Haaland is now the joint all-time leading goalscorer for the Norway national team, with 33 goals in 36 appearances, tying with Jørgen Juve.
Unbeaten Norway leads their group with seven points, ahead of Austria, Slovenia, and Kazakhstan.
