Infrastructural Development: Key to African Progress, says Bureau Veritas

—

Bureau Veritas, a French company specializing in testing, inspection, and certification, has projected that African countries can harness the potential of the continent through infrastructural development and regional integration.

In a statement provided by the company’s Marketing Manager, Sese Matlapeng, They suggested that Africa could reposition and revitalize its economy through improvements in road infrastructure, industries, and inter-regional investments.

The statement further emphasized the need for the continent to enhance infrastructure in areas such as agriculture to act as a driving force for improved productivity, food security, and tangible economic gains, enabling it to better address unforeseen human and natural challenges.

Meanwhile, Julien Fouilliart, the African Marketing Leader for Building Infrastructure at Bureau Veritas, pointed to regional integration as a key factor for a prosperous Africa. He stressed that countries on the continent must unite and cooperate for a common front to achieve economic and political stability.

During a summit held in Cairo on November 13th, 2023, the private entity also hinted that private investment is a major building block to stimulate and sustain the economic reform of African countries. This investment could promote Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), create jobs, improve the trade balance, and enhance effective administration. The incorporation of green finance, as a strategic approach in involving the financial sector in the transformation process toward low-carbon and resource-efficient economies, is seen as essential in responding to the global climate crisis.
