Bayer Leverkusen and Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface, has revealed the two leagues he prefers over the English Premier League during an interview session with Sporty TV.
When asked if he would like to join the English Premier League soon, Boniface disclosed that he’s not a fan of the world’s most recognized league, instead showing his preference for La Liga and the Bundesliga.
“No. I have been saying this even before I had an international passport, even before I dreamed of coming to Europe. I don’t really like the Premier League; I prefer Spanish and German football.”
The Akure-born striker began his career in his home country, Nigeria, playing for a Lagos-based side, Real Sapphire Football Club. In 2022, he moved to Bodo/Glimt in Norway, where he played for a year before deciding to join Union Berlin. Last year, he secured a move to Bayer Leverkusen and has since been phenomenal for the club.
He played a significant role in Leverkusen’s historic 2023-24 season, in which they defied all odds to claim their first-ever Bundesliga title after finishing as runners-up five times. In that season, the 23-year-old netted 14 league goals and provided 9 assists.
Although he lost his first-team role towards the end of last season due to injury, this season he has been in terrific form, already registering 6 goals and 4 assists.
