Chelsea FC is set to resume discussions on the possible transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, despite strong interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, according to Fabrizio Romano.
According to the Italian journalist, only Chelsea and Al Ahli are in direct talks for the 26-year-old, who will definitely not be playing for the Azzurri this season, as he has yet to make a single squad appearance since the start of the season.
“Direct talks between Chelsea and Victor Osimhen’s camp are set to continue on Wednesday. Al Ahli’s proposal remains valid on the table but will only be activated if Chelsea cannot agree on terms with Osimhen.”
After Napoli’s defeat to Verona, the new manager of Napoli, Antonio Conte, revealed that Osimhen is currently training separately and has not been permitted to feature in the squad:
“This is a question you have to ask the club and not me. I see that Osimhen has been training separately since his return.
“You have to ask the club, absolutely not me. I said it straight away; I put myself as a spectator in this situation.”
Since joining Napoli from Lille, Victor Osimhen has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists for the club, with a significant portion of these contributions coming during the 2021/22 season when Napoli won their first title in 33 years.
