Anambra APC in Turmoil as Moghalu Dumps Party, Silent on Next Move

Former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dr George Moghalu

A former Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and Former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dr George Moghalu on Tuesday announced his resignation from the party.

Moghalu, who is one of the founding fathers of the APC in Nigeria,  dumped the party after submitting a letter of his resignation dated 26th August 2024, which he addressed to his Uruagu Ward 1 chairman of APC in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state.

The letter reads: “I bring to you the good wishes of my dear family and to formally notify you of my decision to resign my Membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC with effect from today 26th day of August, 2024.”

“Please Kindly accept this as a personal decision.”

“It is my utmost desire and expectation that all of us will continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built together over the years.”

“I wish you and all the Members of the Party the very best. Please accept as always the assurance of my best regard,” the letter concluded.

Recall that Moghalu was the coordinating secretary who gave birth to the APC during the Merger.

He ran for Governorship Ticket on the Party’s Platform on two occasions (2017 and 2021).

His last outing with the APC was during the State Youth Wing Conference in Awka where he donated handsomely to the Youth Wing.

The former NIWA boss had in the recent past been rumored to be contemplating leaving the APC, but he had denied the rumors, insisting that nobody could chase him out of the party.

He was before his resignation, considering vying for the APC ticket to contest the Anambra 2025 Governorship Election.

His resignation from the party has allegedly thrown the party into confusion, as it comes on the heels of the death of a major APC stalwart, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

When contacted, Moghalu said his next political move would be made public in due course.
