CAF Tournament: Nigerian Clubs to Earn USD 50,000 at Preliminary Round

—

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a lucrative monetary prize of $50,000 for all clubs participating in its tier-one CAF Champions League and tier-two CAF Confederation tournaments this season as a way to enhance the competition.

It is the first time CAF is offering financial assistance to clubs at this level of the tournament. Previously, clubs needed to reach the group stages to be eligible to share in the overall prize money.

Nigeria Premier League football champions, Enugu Rangers, and league runners-up, Remo Stars, while FA Cup winners, El Kanemi Warriors of Borno, will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup. All will benefit from this windfall.

The first preliminary rounds begin with first-leg matches scheduled between 16-18 August, followed by return legs from 23-25 August 2024.
