WCQ: Super Eagles record another frustrating draw against Zimbabwe

—

Nigerian were disappointed again following a 1-1 draw to Zimbabwe at Huye Stadium, Butare, Rwanda. It’s Nigeria’s second draw after they were held by Lesotho at Uyo, Nigeria.

Despite Jose Peseiro making significant changes in his team that faced Lesotho in Uyo on Friday, Nigeria has yet to pick a win in both games played during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Zimbabwe got the first-half lead through Walter Musona’s strike in the 26th minute following his brilliant free kick that was beyond Francis Uzoho’s reach. The Eagles returned to earn a point after Kelechi leveled in the 67th minute to end the game 1-1 after 90 minutes.

A disappointing game for Nigeria, who might lose another opportunity to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A win for Bafana Bafana of South Africa fires them to the top of Group C. Super Eagles after two games, sits behind South Africa with 2 points after two games.
