WAEC Releases 2024 SSCE Results: Over 93% Processed, Malpractice Cases Decline by 4%

—

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school candidates.

The exams, which took place between April 30 and June 24, saw participation from 1,805,216 candidates across Nigeria, with students hailing from 25,126 secondary schools.

Out of the total number of candidates, 1,685,889 (93.39%) have had all their results processed and released, while the results of 119,327 candidates (6.61%) are still being processed.

Notably, the council has withheld the results of 215,267 candidates (11.92%) due to various reported cases of examination malpractice. This marks a significant reduction in malpractice cases, down from 16.29% in 2023.

In terms of performance, 73.79% of the candidates (1,332,089) obtained credit or above in at least five subjects. Specifically, 1,301,941 candidates (72.12%) achieved credit or above in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. However, this is a decline from the 79.81% pass rate recorded in 2023, reflecting a 7.69% decrease.

Students eager to check their results can do so via the WAEC official results checker website or through SMS using specific instructions provided by the council.

WAEC has emphasized the importance of accuracy when inputting details, stating, “Ensure that all information entered is correct to avoid delays in retrieving your results.”
