—

Nottingham Forest’s forward Taiwo Awoniyi has been shortlisted for the Premier League player of the Month for August. The Nigerian striker was named along with 5 other Premier League players (Jarrod Bowen, James Maddison, Kaoru Mitoma Rodri, and Bryan Mbeumo.)

Awoniyi set Forest for a perfect and positive start into the 2023-24 season. The 26-year-old came off the bench to score against Arsenal during Forest’s first game away at the Emirates. Although they lost the game by 2-1, his goal helped the club to reduce the goal deficit at full time. During their first win against Sheffield United, he also netted their first goal which they won 2-1 at full time. In their 3-2 defeat against Manchester United, the Nigerian striker also registered a goal, scoring in all their fixtures for August.

He became the third African player after Salah and Adebayo to have scored in 7 consecutive Premier League games.
