Rapper Julio Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones, was killed after being “basically ambushed,” according to his attorney, Lewis Fusco. The incident happened following a party celebrating his 26th birthday.

Foolio had hosted the party at an Airbnb in Tampa on Saturday, June 22, but it was shut down by police due to overcrowding. Foolio posted on Instagram about the shutdown and said the police had also kicked them out of the rental property. The party’s location had been widely shared on social media.

After leaving the Airbnb, Foolio checked into a nearby Holiday Inn. He was shot and killed in the hotel’s parking lot around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 23. Tampa police confirmed the shooting, stating that two cars had been fired at. Three other people were injured but are expected to survive.

This marks the fourth time Foolio has been targeted in a shooting in the past four years. In October 2023, he was shot at while driving his black Dodge Challenger and sustained severe injuries. He did not cooperate with the police, but a photo of his injured foot went viral.

Foolio’s family shared updates about his condition on social media, asking for prayers and later confirming that he was doing well. In 2021, Foolio survived another shooting where he claimed to have dodged 100 shots by luck.
