Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, recently talked about the tough times Nigerians are facing.
He pointed fingers at the previous government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it’s to blame for the economic struggles.
At an event where he swore in 22 Special Advisers and heads of government agencies, Governor Mutfwang said that President Bola Tinubu inherited a struggling economy from Buhari.
He mentioned how the country printed a lot of money and sold future oil reserves, leading to a weak economy.
This has caused problems like the fall of the naira and food shortages, with riots breaking out in some places.
“So when you’re talking about the fall of the naira, it’s not rocket time. We sold our future under the last administration. No wonder you’re hearing of riots today, people intercepting food on the way. We are lucky on the plateau that perhaps we have more food than many other states.
Governor Mutfwang shared plans to improve the situation, like setting up a special area for processing agricultural products in Barkin Ladi LGA with help from the African Development Bank. He urged the new appointees to work hard to turn things around.
The governor stressed the importance of finding money for development since there isn’t much to go around.
He emphasized that appointees must focus on helping the government generate wealth and improve the lives of the people. He also called for unity to tackle issues like violence on the Plateau.
“We have suffered enough distraction. You know of the bloodshed on the plateau. The time is now to say enough of it at all.”
The 22 Special Advisers sworn in cover various areas such as National Assembly matters, community relations, labor relations, youth mobilization, and more. They promised to do their best for the people.
Governor Mutfwang highlighted the challenges Nigeria faces and the need for everyone to work together to overcome them.
He emphasized the importance of good governance and economic development for the well-being of the people.
