In a powerful act of support and advocacy for integrity in education, Ossai Ovie Success, a social commentator and aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, has announced his commitment to sponsor a local student’s university education.
The student, from Success’ neighborhood, notably refused his parents’ plan to enroll him in a so-called “miracle center” for his NECO examination, opting instead to rely on his own abilities.
The student declared his intention to take the exams “with his brain,” regardless of the results. Moved by this stance, Success intervened by speaking directly with the parents, who he believes are contributing to societal problems by endorsing dishonest practices.
“I called the parents and told them they are the problems of our society,” Success stated in his Facebook post.
He explained that he would sponsor the student’s university education regardless of the exam results. Furthermore, if the student does not achieve the desired results, Success pledged to provide private lessons to prepare him for the next NECO examination and register him in a vocational training center of his choice to learn a skill.
Success used this incident to highlight a broader issue, condemning the role some parents play in perpetuating high crime rates by encouraging unethical behavior.
“The fact is that nowadays parents are the reasons for high crime rates. Let’s change our ways and encourage our children to do what is right,” he emphasized.
