Popularly Nigerian singer, David Adeleke also known as Davido, has spoken on the global rise of the afrobeats genre.
Speaking during an interview with Hiptv panel discussion with the United States Advisory council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders In Nigeria’s Creative Industries, Davido stated that afrobeats artistes were now selling the same tickets as pop and hip-hop stars like Drake.
The singer claimed that the earnings from an afrobeats single can translate to generational wealth.
“Afrobeats Artists are selling the same tickets as Drake. Now one song as an afrobeat artist can change your generation,” he added.
Davido urged young artists to collaborate with themselves rather than chase international features, stressing that “When you collaborate with your friends, they put their all.”
