Nigerian Army Hails NSCDC’s Efforts at Battling Insecurity In Anambra, Vows Synergy

—

The newly appointed Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment, Nigerian Army Onitsha, Col. Adamu Kabir Muhammad, has lauded the efforts of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in ensuring the security of lives and property in Anambra State.

Muhammad praised Commandant Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant of NSCDC, at the Command Headquarters in Awka, Anambra State, during a familiarization visit.

The 302 Nigerian Army (AR) Commander, who recently assumed duty, disclosed that the visit was necessary to familiarize himself with the NSCDC and seek strengthened synergy, which he said was critical to mitigating crime.

Colonel Muhammad acknowledged the strong partnership between the two agencies and pledged to strengthen their collaboration further, effectively tackling security concerns and fostering a tranquil atmosphere for Anambra residents.

“I want to appreciate the Commandant for such a warm welcome. When we met for the first time, it was as if we had known each other for a long time.

“We have been seeing but I decided to make it formal today. The essence is for us to get to know ourselves for a better cohesion, synergy and sharing of ideas necessary to keep our work flowing,” he said.

He praised the NSCDC’s achievements in protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and maintaining peace and stability in the state, saying, “I’m delighted to be here, having worked alongside the NSCDC on various operations. I must commend your team’s exceptional professionalism, dedication, and effectiveness in carrying out their duties.”

Responding, Comdt. Maku emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating insecurity in some volatile areas of the state.

He appreciated the Nigerian Army’s support for the NSCDC, stating that such synergy will further boost the operational capabilities, intelligence sharing, and capacity building among the two agencies.

” I must commend the Nigerian Army for being our most trusted ally. In all our dealings with them, they have shown to be sincere,  resolute,  very professional, and ready to be of assistance in any areas of our choice,” he concluded.

The highlight of the visit was the signing of the visitor’s register and the exchange of plaques.
