Star Time and DSTV were the front-runners for the televising of the league. The divergence of opinion between stakeholders resulted in the committee extending the start date for the 2023-24 season.

In their communication to club representatives, the community asserted that the League will commence 30th September 2023, winner to receive 150m naira – a 50% increment and all 20 participating teams to get 10m naira before the kick off date.

“Starting with our marketing activities, it has to be noted that the offer from Star time has been adequately attended to and exhausted. Noteworthy is their proposal for a TEN YEARS PARTNERSHIP, WHICH IS NOT OBTAINABLE IN SPORTS MARKETING ANY WHERE IN THE WORLD. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE ALSO MADE A COUNTER OFFER FOR 5 YEARS. TEN YEARS WILL MEAN WE ARE LOCKING UP OUR ASSET FOR THAT DURATION OF TIME… WE ARE STILL HOPEFUL, THY, OR OTHER PROSPECTIVE PARTNERS WILL STILL SHOW UP SINCE TALKS ARE ONGOING. ANY SUCCESS ACHIEVED WILL ENLARGE THE ECONOMIC FRONTIERS OF OUR LEAGUE AND BY EXTENSION THE CLUBS, AS WE PROGRESS.”
