Nibo Killings: Anambra Govt Places Bounty on Perpetrators

Anambra State Government on Monday, announced a handsome reward for anyone who would volunteer valuable and credible information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of Sunday killings at Nibo community in Awka South Council Area of the state.

Recall that gunmen had stormed the Oye Nibo market and gunned down not less than 11 persons, during the Onwa Asaa festival celebrations.

Reacting to the development in a statement, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said the State Government is aware of the deaths that resulted from alleged cult-related killings that occurred in Nibo, describing it as another instance of the kind of violent crimes linked to cults that have occurred recently.

According to him, the state government is committed to putting an end to such violence.

Mefor expressed the state government’s sympathy to the families of the deceased and assured them that the government would get to the root of the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.

“To this end, the government appeals to members of the public to avail it of any useful information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, while assuring them of confidentiality and a handsome reward,” the commissioner said.

He urged all law-abiding Anambra State residents to go about their lawful businesses without fear while the state government works with security services to handle the incident.

According to him, hotlines for relaying this and related information will be made available.
