NAQS, OGFZA unite to improve trade, defend agricultural economy

—

Together, the Nigeria Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) aim to protect and promote commerce in the agricultural sector.

The collaboration comes about as a result of a high-level meeting that was held at the NAQS Headquarters in Abuja between the Managing Director of the (OGFZA), Bamanga Usman Jada, and his team, and the Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Godwin Sunday Audu. In his speech, the NAQS DG reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to advancing trade, safeguarding Nigeria’s agriculture sector, and adhering to international phytosanitary norms.

He emphasized that NAQS is prepared to assist exporters in fulfilling the requirements, enabling a smooth export procedure for those who comply with legal mandates.

“NAQS remains unwavering in its commitment to promoting trade while ensuring the integrity of our agricultural sector as we pursue economic growth and agricultural prosperity.”

“We are committed to giving exporters and importers the necessary guidance and support to navigate regulatory processes effectively,” Audu stated. “We understand the importance of facilitating exports and imports.”

Audu further emphasized NAQS’s readiness to collaborate closely with OGFZA, providing direction and details on import and export protocols.

He mentioned that in exchange for the services provided by NAQS, exporters must pay the user fee. He conveyed his appreciation for OGFZA’s gift of office space to NAQS at Onne Seaport in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, highlighting the fact that this showed OGFZA’s dedication to assisting NAQS in its operations.

Jada underlined that to safeguard Nigeria’s agricultural industry, NAQS and OGFZA cooperation is essential. Praising NAQS for its dedication to advancing trade while upholding strict standards, he emphasized the significance of a cordial partnership between the two organizations.
