The Chairperson of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs. Florence Godwin Mutkut, 8 Division Chapter, has called for the protection of boys from harmful societal influences.Â
Mrs Mutkut who made this appeal during the International Day of the Boy Child celebration held in Sokoto on Thursday, emphasized that caring for boys is crucial for their development into responsible men in society.
She noted a worrying trend of declining enrollment of boys in primary and secondary schools and a rising dropout rate.
Additionally, she highlighted incidents where young boys have been led astray, engaging in activities such as fraud, robbery, and drug abuse, which are detrimental to society.
She urged parents and guardians to give boys the necessary attention, guidance, and support to help them grow into responsible adults.
This year’s theme was “Celebrate and Protect the Boy Child.”
The event featured a procession by participants and a presentation by Dr. Abubakar Sifawa, an Education Psychologist from Shehu Shagari University of Education, Sokoto.
