The family of the late singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has arranged a second autopsy to determine how he died.
On June 26, 2024, Magistrate T.A. Shotobi from the Ikorodu Coroner Court in Lagos allowed Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to organize an independent examination by a licensed pathologist. The court instructed that Mr. Aloba would be responsible for the costs.
According to a statement from the family’s legal representative, Monisola Odumosu, the new autopsy took place on July 19 and 20, 2024. This examination has two parts: the first part is completed, and if the cause of death is still unclear, additional tests will be done, including toxicology and histology.
Joseph Aloba and pathologists chosen by both him and Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi Aloba, watched the procedure.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023. His first autopsy, conducted after his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, could not determine the cause of death because the body had decomposed.
