During the visit, General Ali expressed his gratitude to OCHA for its dedicated coordination of humanitarian support in the region. He emphasized the MNJTF’s commitment to backing OCHA’s efforts, stating, “We welcome any effort that will bring peace and stability in Lake Chad.”
Dieudonne Bamouni praised the MNJTF for its significant contributions to stabilizing the region, particularly highlighting the Task Force’s non-kinetic strategies.
These strategies have been instrumental in increasing the number of terrorist surrenders, marking a notable success in the ongoing conflict.
Bamouni also outlined OCHA’s current activities in Chad aimed at supporting populations affected by the conflict.
He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between OCHA and the MNJTF to achieve long-term peace and stability in the Lake Chad region.
A key component of this enhanced partnership will be training for MNJTF personnel, focusing on the implications of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) during their operations.
Bamouni assured that OCHA would assist in this training, which is expected to improve the MNJTF’s ability to enforce ethical standards and protect vulnerable populations.
This strengthened partnership between the MNJTF and OCHA aims to create a more effective and coordinated approach to addressing the humanitarian needs in the Lake Chad region, ultimately fostering a more stable and peaceful environment.
