Singer Korede Bello has shed light on his departure from Mavin Records, the label founded by renowned music producer Don Jazzy.
Bello, who rose to fame after joining Mavin Records in February 2014, made his exit from the label in 2021. However, despite his departure, he remains on good terms with Don Jazzy and has collaborated with him on recent projects.
In a candid interview with Hip TV, hosted by reality star KimOprah, Korede Bello opened up about the personal and professional reasons behind his decision to leave. He explained that his departure wasn’t due to any rift but rather a personal journey of self-discovery and growth.
According to Bello, he felt the need to evolve and reconnect with his true purpose. He shared that during his time at Mavin Records, he began to feel like he was simply a “product” being used to generate profit. This sense of detachment from his artistic identity made him realize that he needed to take a step back and reassess his direction.
“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why,” Bello said during the interview.
He emphasized that constantly chasing the next big hit or staying relevant in the highly competitive music industry can sometimes lead artists to lose sight of their original goals and passions. For Korede Bello, this was a trap he wanted to avoid. “You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle,” he added.
Despite leaving Mavin, Korede Bello has maintained a positive relationship with Don Jazzy, and their recent collaborations show that their professional bond remains intact. Bello continues to explore his musical journey and his art.
