Kebbi State Rice Farmers Association to Cultivate 200 Hectares of Rice in Ka’oje

The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Kebbi State chapter, has announced an ambitious plan to cultivate around 200 hectares of rice in the Ganten Fadama area of Ka’oje, located in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Tuesday 27, August 2024.

This large-scale agricultural initiative is part of RIFAN’s ongoing efforts to boost rice production in the region and contribute to the food security and economic growth of the state.

According to RIFAN, this cultivation effort has already started to bear fruit, with an estimated 3,000 bags of FARO 44 paddy rice harvested.

The harvested rice is currently being processed by SBF, a local company that specializes in sorting and packaging high-quality rice products.

According to them, the FARO 44 variety is known for its resilience and high yield, making it a popular choice among rice farmers in the region.

“Once processed, the rice will be packaged into 25kg bags and made available for sale, not only within Kebbi State but also across other parts of Nigeria.”

RIFAN is optimistic that this initiative will help meet the growing demand for rice in the country while providing farmers with a stable income source.

“This project is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and contribute to the broader goal of self-sufficiency in rice production across Nigeria.”
