ICPC, PTAD Unite to Tackle Pension Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to crack down on pension fraud and safeguard retirees’ entitlements.

At the signing ceremony, ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, decried years of hardship pensioners have faced due to fraud. “The era of tolerating such acts is over,” he declared, stressing that PTAD’s digitized database combined with ICPC’s investigative and prosecutorial powers will deliver a “formidable force against pension fraud.”

Aliyu said the pact will enable information sharing, joint investigations, and swift prosecutions of offenders. He urged Nigerians to back the effort, noting: “We owe it to our parents and grandparents to ensure their post-service years are marked by peace, not endless struggles.”

PTAD Executive Secretary Tolulope Abiodun Odunaiya hailed the collaboration as “a defining moment” for pensioners. She described the MoU as proof of the agencies’ shared commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.

The agreement, signed in the presence of both management teams, marks a strategic milestone in inter-agency cooperation to protect the rights of Nigerian retirees.
