It was a historical scene last night when Chelsea commanded a last-minute grasp of a 4-3 victory against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, putting an end to the seven-year winless streak suffered against United.Â
It was Chelsea’s first top-flight victory since the Ălvaro Morata sublime 55th-minute strike against the Red Devils on November 5, 2017, in which Chelsea had struggled to earn a victory over the years.
Chelsea established a two-goal lead through an early strike from club captain Conor Gallagher and a Cole Palmer penalty.
Unfortunately for the Blues, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes’ goals neutralized all of Chelsea’s goalsâending the first half by a 2-2 scoreline.
In the second half, United grabbed the lead through Garnacho’s second goal in the 67th minute.
While Manchester United seemed to have earned the entire three points, in the 99th minute, Noni Madueke was fouled by Diogo Dalot, and Palmer’s ice-cold conversation from the spot leveled the elusive to 3-3.
While Chelsea fans continued their chant in glorious harmony, their faith relied on the extra minutes added.
Palmer had an open space to shoot towards Andre Onana – a cold shouldered deflection took the effort far from Onana’s reach as it ended in an undreamt 4-3 victory.
