First Lady of Sokoto Donates Food and Cash Assistance to Patients at Specialist Hospital

In commemoration of the 2024 World Humanitarian Day, the First Lady of Sokoto State, Hajiya Fatima Aliyu, has generously provided food and financial assistance to patients at the Specialist Hospital in Sokoto, on Monday.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum to mark the occasion by supporting the needy, particularly those who are ill.
During the event, Mrs. Aliyu highlighted the importance of assisting the less fortunate in society, particularly in challenging economic times.
She emphasized that the decision to provide this support was driven by the desire to alleviate some of the hardships faced by the most vulnerable members of society.
“The idea here is to assist the needy so as to reduce the hardship they are facing in their day-to-day lives,” Hajiya Fatima said, as quoted by a statement issued by Abubakar Bawa, Press Secretary to the Sokoto State Governor.
She acknowledged the global economic challenges that have also impacted Nigeria, explaining that this initiative was conceived to bring some relief and happiness to those who are struggling.
Hajiya Fatima also mentioned that since Governor Ahmed Aliyu assumed office, his administration has taken significant steps to provide food and financial assistance to vulnerable groups and individuals with physical challenges across the state. These efforts are aimed at mitigating the difficulties faced by these populations.
In her remarks, she called on affluent individuals in the state to join hands with the government in supporting the needy, reinforcing the teachings of Islam that encourage helping the less fortunate.
“As we all know, Islam always encourages us to support the weak among us, and by so doing, we will be able to enjoy Allah’s mercies and blessings,” she added.
She also urged the beneficiaries of the donations to use the assistance in ways that would benefit them and their families, ensuring that the gesture has a meaningful impact on their lives.
Earlier in the program, the Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe, expressed her appreciation for the First Lady’s efforts.
She praised Hajiya Fatima Aliyu for bringing joy to the patients at the hospital and for settling the medical bills of some patients who are undergoing various surgical procedures.
The event underscores the commitment of the Sokoto State government and its First Lady to supporting the most vulnerable in society, particularly during significant occasions like World Humanitarian Day.
