The Nigeria Premier Football League disciplinary committee has made a firm decision against Enyimba FC of Aba after the NPFL defending champions abandoned match day 35 and walked off the pitch in protest against a controversial late penalty awarded to the home team, Enugu Rangers.
In breaking the NPFL frameworks, The People’s Elephant were not only fined ₦10 million but also mandated to reveal the names of players and match officials involved in the incident, in addition to the already identified three (Eze Ekwotoziam, 6, Chibuike Nwawu, 27, and Akanni Elijah, 10), who assaulted a match official.
Furthermore, The Flying Antelopes have been awarded three points and three goals following their comportment, even when Enyimba disrupted the game and allowed its fans to encroach and throw dangerous objects onto the pitch.
The Aba-based club must comply within 7 days.
The breakdown of the verdict Enyimba is facing:
• N1 million fine for failing to maintain proper team conduct.
• N5 million fine for disrupting a live broadcast.
• N1 million fine for throwing objects onto the field.
• N1 million fine for encroaching onto the field.
• N2 million fine for disrupting and discontinuing the game.
As things stand on the NPFL log, Rangers, despite retaining the top spot, have now established a 5 points clear over Enyimba and would be crowned champions should they win two of their remaining three games.
