In a major coup for the Blues, Chelsea are closing in on the signing of highly-rated Barcelona striker Marc Guiu, with the deal entering its final stages.
It was gathered that the 18-year-old sensation has already given the green light to the transfer, and Chelsea are set to trigger his €6m release clause in the coming days.
Guiu’s decision to join Chelsea comes after Barcelona failed to improve their contract offer, despite being aware of the Blues’ interest.
The Catalan giants’ offer of a four-year deal worth €2m per year, with bonuses, was deemed insufficient by the young striker, who will now triple his salary at Stamford Bridge.
The signing of Guiu, who has already made seven first-team appearances for Barcelona and scored twice, is a significant boost to Chelsea’s attacking options. The Blues see him as a huge talent with immense potential to become a key striker, valuing him at far more than the €6m release clause.
