Chat GPT, Fastest-Growing App but Daily Engagement Lagging
ChatGPT
ChatGPT, the conversational AI developed by OpenAI, has made headlines by becoming the fastest-growing app in history, achieving an unprecedented milestone of 100 million users within just two months of its release.
Despite this remarkable growth, the app faces major challenges in maintaining daily user engagement.
According to a recent survey conducted by YouGov for the Reuters Institute, only 10% of ChatGPT’s users engage with the app on a daily basis.
This statistic reflects a critical gap between the app’s rapid adoption and its consistent usage.
The survey further revealed that among users aged 18-24, daily usage stands at 9%, with 18% using it weekly, 12% monthly, and a striking 44% having never used the app despite being registered users.
OpenAI’s journey has been bolstered by substantial financial backing, amassing $14 billion in venture capital funding.
A notable portion of this funding comes from a partnership with Microsoft.
This influx of capital has propelled OpenAI to a valuation of $80 billion, positioning it as the third most valuable unicorn globally, trailing only ByteDance and SpaceX.
The disparity between ChatGPT’s popularity and its actual usage is further highlighted by its status as the most popular article on Wikipedia last year.
Despite widespread recognition, translating this popularity into daily engagement remains a pressing challenge for OpenAI.
To address this, OpenAI must focus on enhancing ChatGPT’s utility and appeal to foster more regular usage among its diverse user base.
This involves not only improving the app’s features and functionalities but also better aligning them with user needs and expectations.
