Singer Charly Boy has advised Nigerians not to take Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka seriously, suggesting that Soyinka, who is about to turn 90, may be experiencing age-related brain deterioration.Â
Charly Boy, 73, believes this could explain Soyinka’s recent statements and actions. He expressed concern that Soyinka’s family and close friends have not been able to protect him from politicians who might be exploiting his condition.
On Instagram, Charly Boy wrote: “Professor Wole Soyinka is almost 90 years old, and some brain deterioration is expected at his age. His recent statements and actions suggest this might be happening, so we shouldn’t take him too seriously.

“What we should be worried about as Nigerians is how his family and friends can’t stop desperate politicians from taking advantage of his medical condition, tarnishing the reputation of the once-respected Nobel laureate.”
