The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that recent airstrikes in the Tumbuns area near Lake Chad, Borno State, have resulted in the death of several terrorists.Â
The operation was carried out after heavy rains flooded the region, forcing the remaining terrorists to relocate to higher and drier ground, making them more vulnerable.
In a statement on Thursday, NAF spokesperson Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Edward Gabkwet confirmed that the Air Force had conducted Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions over the area on August 22, 24, and 26, 2024.
These missions revealed a group of terrorists, along with their belongings, hiding in makeshift shelters that were camouflaged under trees and thick vegetation.
Gabkwet highlighted that the airstrikes dealt a significant blow to the remaining terrorists in the Tumbuns region, particularly in Jubillaram, as part of the ongoing Operation Hadin Kai.
