On Monday evening, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided Urban 94.5FM, a popular radio station in Enugu State, around 6 PM. The raid disrupted a live broadcast, with presenters detained and equipment worth millions seized.
A broadcaster, Favour Ekoh, was reportedly pulled off the air during a live program, causing major disruptions and raising concerns about press freedom.
In a statement issued late Monday, the radio station’s management expressed shock over the incident, noting that the EFCC had not yet provided an official explanation for the detention of staff and the seizure of equipment.
