Bandits burn 12, raze over 17 houses in fresh attack in Kaduna

—

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a group of bandits attacked Gin din Dutse Mkyali village in Kufana district, located in the Kajiru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attack resulted in the deaths of 12 people and the burning of 17 houses.

This incident occurred just 48 hours after another attack in Kauru and Igabi local government areas, where nine people were killed and 35 were abducted.

According to Moses Musa, a community leader interviewed after the attack, the bandits struck around 5 am while the villagers were asleep, firing guns indiscriminately.

During the attack, 12 people lost their lives, nine others were injured, and 17 houses were set on fire. The assault lasted for several hours before normalcy was restored in the community.

The spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the attack, stating that the injured victims had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

He also mentioned that the police had deployed special forces to the community and surrounding areas to apprehend the attackers and rescue any remaining victims.

In response to the attack, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, condemned the violence, calling it inhumane and barbaric.

He expressed his condolences to the people of Kajuru and the families of the victims. Additionally, Governor Sani directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide immediate assistance to the affected communities, given the destruction of their homes and belongings.

The governor reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity in the state, highlighting ongoing efforts to collaborate with security agencies and other stakeholders to mitigate security challenges.
