The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has praised the 402 Special Forces (SF) Brigade for their outstanding efforts in securing the Kaduna-Abuja road and rail corridor.
He gave the commendation during an operational visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Kaduna on Monday, January 20, 2025.
Upon arrival, Lieutenant General Oluyede was welcomed with a ceremonial Quarter Guard reception and received a detailed briefing on the Brigade’s activities and challenges.
Addressing the officers and soldiers, he called for sustained offensives against terrorists, insurgents, and other criminal groups operating in their area.
The Army Chief acknowledged the difficulties faced by the troops and assured them of timely action to address their challenges.
He also emphasized his commitment to improving the welfare and accommodation of Nigerian Army personnel, stressing that every soldier deserves adequate support.
He urged the officers to lead with courage and resilience in addressing security threats and commended the Brigade’s success in operations, noting their vital role in the Army’s overall strategy.
“The demand for the 402 Special Forces Brigade across various units shows the high level of your performance,” he said.
The visit was aimed at boosting the morale and readiness of the troops, reflecting the COAS’ commitment to maintaining the Army’s effectiveness in tackling security challenges across the nation.
Lieutenant General Oluyede was accompanied by the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, senior officers from Army Headquarters, and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army.
