Armed Bandits Invade Plateau Market, Kill 7

At least seven persons have been reportedly killed while many others were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries after some armed bandits invaded a market in Zurak Campani, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on the market day when the community was on a beehive of commercial activities.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, a youth leader in the area Abdullahi Hussaini, that the gunmen stormed the market around 2pm on Sunday 10th March and suddenly rained gunshots on the people transacting businesses.

Hussaini, who revealed that the gunmen arrived at the market in their numbers on motorcycles, added that they started shooting sporadically, killing seven people instantly while many others were injured.

He stated that the gunmen successfully launched the attack and fled away unhindered because people were not expecting any security threat at the moment.

He added further; “The gunmen fled to the bush but police personnel have been deployed to the community to restore law and other. We are calling on more security deployment in the area because we don’t know what may happen anytime soon”.

At the time of this press release, spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command,DSP Alabo Alfred, was indisposed to give an official statement on the incident.
