APC Zamfara Condemns Attempted Factional Takeover Amidst Allegations of Misconduct

In a recent statement issued by Yusuf Idris, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, strong condemnation was expressed towards what was described as an attempt to disrupt the party’s cohesion and integrity.
The statement, released on Saturday in Gusau, highlighted concerns over actions by a group purportedly seeking to undermine the party’s unity.
Idris emphasized that despite efforts to maintain peace and solidarity within the Zamfara APC, certain individuals, led by figures including the Zonal Vice Chairman of Zamfara West, Hon. Isiyaka Ajiya Anka, allegedly attempted an unauthorized takeover.
This move, according to the statement, involved occupying a paint-selling shop and dubbing it as the state APC secretariat, contrary to the party’s constitutional procedures.
The spokesperson further pointed out that such actions are seen as a blatant abuse of the party’s structure and principles, which cannot be tolerated.
The leadership under Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani and the guidance of the Hon. Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, alongside support from critical stakeholders such as Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima, and Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi, are committed to preserving the party’s integrity.
Moreover, the statement addressed ongoing concerns about attempts to destabilize the APC’s prospects, both locally and nationally, ahead of future elections.
“We are aware that the actions and activities of this group of mischief makers are part of a grand plan to break the ranks of the APC and its good chances of continuity from the national level down to the states.”
It asserted that previous electoral challenges faced by these elements in 2019 and 2023 have not deterred them from plotting further disruptions.
The APC leadership vowed readiness to counter any such efforts, reaffirming its readiness to uphold party unity and strength.
“As they plan to hatch another bad one ahead of the 2027 elections, they should be informed that we are fully ready for them and the party they intend to float, which can certainly not match the APC.”
