Anambra NSCDC Commandant Visits Eid Ground, Reassures Muslim Faithful of Security

As part of its statutory mandates and obligations to protect lives and property, the Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Comdt. Maku Olatunde on Wednesday visited the Eid prayer ground at Amawbia, in Awka South Council Area of the state.

The visit, according to the Anambra NSCDC Commandant, was to supervise and coordinate the already emplaced security to keep all worshippers safe and avoid any eventuality.

Recall that as part of measures to achieve a smooth Eid-El Fitr celebrations in Anambra, the NSCDC had announced the deployment of 951 of its personnel across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The idea behind the deployment was to ensure that miscreants and disgruntled elements did not take advantage of the occasion to perpetrate criminality.

Addressing the worshippers on the essence of his visit, Comdt. Maku said the command is determined to fish out undesirable elements that may use the opportunity to ferment trouble hence the deployment of enough manpower to the entire parameter of the Eid prayer ground.

“I am here at the  Eid prayer ground in compliance with the marching order given to us by the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to be on high alert to guard against any untoward incidents at the Eid prayer ground, besides deploying personnel in all vulnerable and dark spots,” he said.

According to him, with the stringent operational strategies being executed by the command for the Sallah festivities, the command seeks to reassure members of the public of their safety.

The NSCDC State boss while calling on Muslims faithful to pray fervently for peace and tranquility in the country, said the command will sustain collaboration with sister security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure hitch-free celebrations.

Other very senior officers that accompanied the State Commandant are Deputy Commandant Alada Yakubu, HOD Ops, and Deputy Commandant Akaachia Godwin.
