Anambra Guber Poll: Soludo Jittery Over APC’s Growing Influence in Anambra- Ukachukuwu

Numerous former appointees of the Anambra State Government have decamped from the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Anambra State, into the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The decampees were received in Awka during separate endorsement rallies held in support of the APC Governorship candidate in the coming Nov 8, 2025, election in Anambra.

The events are coming on the heels of an endorsement rally held in support of the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, where the governor described his opponents as ‘mere fundraisers’.

The governor’s comments and subsequent efforts to whittle down the influence of the APC was, however, betrayed by the massive turnouts at the two events.

Among those received into the APC at the event were appointees, who served the state in different capacities but were allegedly tossed aside with arrears of salaries and emoluments by the Soludo administration.

At the event, a political group, Sustenance of Faith in Good Governance (SOFIG), announced the donation of the sum of one hundred and fifty million Naira in support of Ukachukwu, the APC Governorship candidate’s aspiration.

In his remarks the National President of SOFIG, Dr Kingsley Ezekwelu said the group was formed to restore faith in governance, which he said must be anchored on responsibility and responsiveness on the part of duty bearers.

He reiterated their ambition to be a leading political pressure group committed to promoting unity, responsible leadership and good governance for the advancement of Anambra State

The mission statement of SOFIG, Dr Ezekwelu noted, was to foster an environment where the government is anchored on the principles of love for unity and respect for diversity through strategic engagement, advocacy and support for visionary leaders to thrive.

Ezekwelu noted that the group has above thirty-six active members who are fully committed to Ukachukwu’s candidacy.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr Mike Ejiogu Duru, commended SOFIG for standing out to be counted in the coming November 8 guber polls, describing the APC governorship candidate, Prince Ukachukwu, as a man with the Midas Touch to take Anambra State to her infinite glory.

The Anambra State Chairman of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike who splashed two million Naira on the group on behalf of the party appreciated the efforts of SOFIG in shaping the political future of Anambra State.

Responding, the standard bearer for APC in the November 8 polls, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu expressed his preparedness to run a responsible and responsive administration as governor of the State.

According to him, good governance is not all about speaking big grammar and presenting non-functional economic theories, but in practical issues beneficial to all citizens.

Ukachukwu, who noted that the incumbent state government is scared of the growing membership of the APC in Anambra, said November 8 Governorship election will show that the people are at home with the party.

“My administration would not relegate the welfare of Ndi-Anambra to the background while building infrastructures that would stand the test of time and satisfy the needs of citizens.

“I want to commend SOFIG for its unflinching support and to assure them that I am ready to support the group and all the people working with him.

“I also want to appeal to the support group and all other groups that believe in my capacity to turn things around for the betterment of Anambra, to take the message down to the nooks and crannies of the state. Come November 8, Anambra State shall be liberated from the shackles of bad governance,” Ukachukwu enthused.
