2023 AFCON: Super Eagles release 40-man provisional squad

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, under the guidance of Jose Peseiro have released a 40 – man provisional squad ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. 

The 40-man squad comprises players plying their brands abroad and in the local leagues. The squad will be reduced to at least 20+ players before the tournament kicks off next month in the Ivory Coast.

The full list includes:

Goalkeepers. Francis Uzoho, Adebayo Adeleye, Ojo Olorunleke, Stanley Nwabali, Amas Obasogie and Christian Nwoke

Defenders:Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Tyronne Ebuehi, Jamilu Collins, Zaidu Sanusi, Bruno Onyemaechi, William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Kenneth Omeruo, Kevin Akpoguma, Chidozie Awaziem, and Jordan Torunarigha

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka Joe Aribo, Alex Iwobi, Alhassan Yusuf, Fisayo, Dele-Bashiru, Raphael, Onyedika Nwadike, and Kelechi Nwakali

Attackers:Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi, Umar Sadiq, Ahmed Musa, Paul Onuachu, Cyriel Dessers, Ademola Lookman, Nathan Tella, Moses Simon, Emmanuel Dennis, Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Iheanacho.

The tournament, which is set to begin on the 13th of January, will take place in the Ivory Coast. The Super Eagles, who are in group A, will be in action on January 14, 2024 against Equatorial Guinea at exactly 3 pm Nigerian time.
